It was earlier reported that Honda are planning to launch the diesel variant of their currently existing models. Honda CR-V is one of the top selling SUV in the Indian automobile field and now Honda will use their newly developed diesel engine in its CR-V to boost its sales and compete in the current Indian market.

This new Honda CR-V Diesel i-CTDi, a luxurious SUV in the D segment, features a 2200cc, CRDi, 4 Cylinder diesel engine which develops a maximum power of about 134bhp and a maximum torque of about 347Nm. This new Honda CR-V Diesel i-CTDi, with a 6-Speed Manual Gear transmission is said to have a mileage of about 14 kmpl in the cities and about 18 kmpl in the highways.

With the arrival of this new luxurious SUV, CR-V Diesel i-CTDi, Honda is all set to compete with the likes of Chevrolet Captiva, Hyundai Tucson, Nissan X-Trail etc. This new luxurious SUV, Honda CR-V Diesel i-CTDi is expected to be launched by June 2011 and might have a price tag of around Rs 31 lakhs (ex-showroom Mumbai).

2011 Tata Safari Merlin in India - Specifications, Features and Prices

Tata Motors are coming with the new Tata Safari Merlin, which consists of the 2.2 Litre DiCOR engine with the dual-mass flywheel and the upgraded G76-Mark II gearbox. This new Tata Safari Merlin, which can also be called as new Tata Safari 2011 will be the second product, after Tata Aria, to be based on Tata’s all-new X2 platform.

This new Mahindra Thar, a typical SUV in the C segment, is a true blue, stylish off roader, which is an evolved version of the Mahindra CJ340, the MM 540, the Classic and the Legend. Mahindra Thar is available with two engine options: CRDe and Di. The Thar CRDe is powered by a 2.5 litre diesel engine which develops maximum power of 105 Bhp at 3800 rpm and maximum torque of 247 Nm at 1800 rpm. Thar Di is also powered by a 2.5 litre diesel engine which develops maximum power of 63 Bhp at 3200 rpm and maximum torque of 180 Nm at 1440 rpm. The power is supplied through 16 inch tires with leaf springs at the rear.

World famous brand, Lexus are going to introduce into the ever growing Indian automobile market, their most prestigious SUV model, Lexus RX 350. This new model Lexus RX 350, that belongs to the D+ segment will have to face a tough competition from the other world class models that are already existing there.

This new Lexus RX 350 features a 24-valve, four-cam, 3500cc V6 Diesel engine which will produce a Maximum Power of 270hp@6200rpm and also a Maximum torque of 251ft-lbs@4700rpm. This new SUV will provide a mileage of around 17 in the cities and around 22 in the highway. The efficiency of the RX engine is improved with dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i).

A backup camera helps the driver's rear view visibility when traveling in reverse.

For easier loading and unloading, the power rear door can be raised or lowered with the touch of a button. At speeds over 62 mph, the vehicle automatically lowers 0.3 inches, for increased control and superior aerodynamics. For even better handling during sport driving, you can select Low mode, which lowers the vehicle 0.6 inches.

Other features include a rear-seat entertainment system which includes a nine-inch LCD screen and wireless headphones, bluetooth technology, satellite radio, power moon roof etc. The luxurious features of the interior include dual-zone climate control as well as a wood- and leather-trimmed steering wheel and shift knob. Eight speakers and an in-dash, six-disc CD auto-changer are included with this standard audio system.
